About me

I peaked when I was 5 years old

The first product I designed was a bell when I was about 5 years old. I pulled apart a rusty lampshade and reconstructed it into a janky little thing that rang when I waved it about. Mum helped me fashion a ding-a-ling thing out of the chains that held the lamp in the air. It was a neat design for a kid my age and even a couple decades later, I still give it a ring when I’m feeling uninspired or am struggling to make big life decisions. I think it’s the highlight of my career.

This is how I approach my work. I love to reframe problems, ideas, household objects, into something that insights a story, something we can all use to better understand the world and ourselves.

My varied experience in design, research, management and workshop facilitation is grounded in this curiosity, play and persistent desire to learn and grow. In both design and management I focus on active listening, empathy and reframing to understand true human needs in order to make long-lasting meaningful impact.

I can work anywhere in Australia or the EU

With a dual EU & AU citizenship, I have full working rights in Australia, Europe and New Zealand.

My values

Just do and play and fail and learn

I’ve learned to reduce the space between idea and execution (if it’s not a terrible idea of course). I’ll have hundreds of design iterations, regularly reframe questions or will look in obscure places for inspiration. This means I try, fail and learn quickly and spend little time procrastinating or staring blankly at screens.

Growth, exploration and openness

I treat my life and work like a fun but never-ending experiment – consistently questioning and trying new things so that I can learn and be a little bit better. My way of life is informed by dynamic evidence and my growth-mindset means I’m always open to change and different ways of doing things.

Safety first

Psychological safety is key for good user research, workshop facilitation and management. This is huge for me. I focus so much of my effort as a designer in creating environments or experiences in which people can feel comfortable to be vulnerable and playful.
When we can play, we can be ourselves, and this is where the juicy insights come from.
